Abstract
Mechanical properties of a commercial SiC-fiber/CVI-SiC composite were examined. The composite showed high fracture toughness (12.5MPa·m1/2) and low strength (162MPa in tensile strength) comparing to those far other engineering ceramics, resulting from fracture behavior dependent on the microstructure.
