A series of Fe(II)/meso-Al2O3 catalysts was prepared by the wetness impregnation method using ferrous sulfate and mesoporous alumina. Mesoporous alumina was synthesized at pH 6 by the precipitation method using aluminum isopropoxide as the aluminum source and sucrose as the template. These catalysts were characterized by different techniques such as SEM, XRD, XPS, FTIR spectroscopy, and BET surface area analysis. The catalytic activities in phenol degradation by the photo-Fenton reaction were ev...

In this study, we demonstrate an electro-Fenton (E-Fenton) system constructed with a novel sandwich film cathode (SFC). For the fabrication of SFC, Fe2+-chitosan (Fe-CHI) was first deposited on foam nickel (Fe-CHI/Ni). Then two pieces of Fe-CHI/Ni was used to fasten one piece of activated carbon fiber (ACF) to obtain a Fe-CHI/Ni|ACF|Fe-CHI/Ni sandwich film cathode. We interestingly found that this SFC based E-Fenton system could effectively degrade rodamine B with in situ generating both hydroge...

Abstract Decolorization of reactive azo dye, reactive black 5 (RB5), was conducted using Fe(III) immobilized on Montmorillonite K10 (MK10) as a catalyst in the presence of H 2 O 2 using Fenton-like oxidation process. The effect of different parameters such as iron ions loading on supported catalyst, catalyst dosage, initial pH of dye solution, initial concentration of H 2 O 2 and dye and reaction temperature on the decolorization efficiency of the process were studied. The results indicated that...

BiFeO3 magnetic nanoparticles (BFO MNPs) were prepared with a sol−gel method and characterized as a catalyst. It was found that BFO MNPs effectively catalyzed the decomposition of H2O2 into •OH radicals, being confirmed with electron spin resonance spin-trapping technique and other radical probing techniques. The strong H2O2-activating ability of BFO MNPs showed promising applications in the oxidative degradation of organic pollutants. When BFO MNPs were used as a heterogeneous Fenton-like catal...

Abstract In order to find a catalyst with high activity and stability for catalytic wet peroxide oxidation (CWPO) process under normal condition, with Fe 2 O 3 /γ-Al 2 O 3 and Fe 2 O 3 –CeO 2 /γ-Al 2 O 3 catalysts prepared by impregnation method, the effect of CeO 2 doping on the structure and catalytic activity of Fe 2 O 3 /γ-Al 2 O 3 for catalytic wet peroxide oxidation of azo dyes at 25 °C and atmospheric pressure is evaluated using BET, SEM, XRF, XRD, XPS and chemical analysis techniques, an...

Background: The solar photo-Fenton process has enormous potential for becoming a viable alternative to conventional processes for the treatment of industrial wastewater. However the costs associated with the use of artificial irradiation have hindered many times industrial application of these processes. Method of Approach: In this work, the photo-Fenton remediation of various industrial wastewaters (containing silicones, pesticides, phenol and hydrocarbons, model, and real) in aqueous systems h...
