Abstract
Heparin and its derivatives inhibit human leucocyte proteinases i.e. elastase and cathepsin G, but do not inhibit porcine pancreatic elastase and Pseudomonas aeruginosa elastase. In vitro experiments, reported here, also indicate that elastin, one of the physiological substrates of human leucocyte elastase (HLE), could decrease by 30-fold the inhibitory potential of an hexadecasaccharide heparin fragment (dp 16) isolated from CY 222....
