The behaviour of axially and laterally loaded single piles embedded in nonhomogeneous soils

An approximate elastic analysis is made of the working load responses of single piles embedded in a soil of linearly increasing modulus with depth. The formulation employs, within a boundary element algorithm, the fundamental solution for point loads acting at the interface of a two-layer elastic half-space.
