Abstract
Daily changes of nutritional status during total parenteral nutrition (TPN) were studied in partially hepatectomized (PH) rats. When PH rats were parenterally infused with 8 to 10 g of amino acids and 40 to 60 g of glucose per kg daily for 1 to 3 days, the nitrogen balances in PH rats were positive during the infusion period, but the balance was significantly lower on day 3 than that in nonhepatectomized (NPH) rats.
