Abstract
This paper examines the effect of the opening between the shear boxes on the shear behavior in the direct shear box test (H=20 mm×D=60 mm) under a constant vertical stress using seven types of granular material. It is observed that the magnitude of shear strength and dilatancy decreases due to the outflow of sample with an increase in the opening.
