Abstract
Iron-associated oxidative injury plays a role in retinal degeneration such as age-related macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa. The metallo-complex zinc-desferrioxamine (Zn/DFO) may ameliorate such injury by chelation of labile iron in combination with release of zinc.
