Abstract
Many serine proteinase inhibitors of the serpin superfamily have evolved in vertebrates and invertebrates to regulate serine proteinase cascades that mediate the host defense responses. We have isolated an immuneresponsive serpin from the tobacco hornworm, Manduca sexta.
