Abstract
The ovarian bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) system is a physiological inhibitor of luteinization in growing ovarian follicles. BMP-6, which is expressed in oocytes and granulosa cells of healthy follicles, specifically inhibits FSH actions by suppressing adenylate cyclase activity.
