Nutritional aspects of cancer

In selected malnourished patients, perioperative nutritional support can decrease morbidity and mortality rates associated with major surgical procedures. Perioperative nutrition should be given via the gastrointestinal tract whenever feasible as oral supplements or by tube feedings.
