Abstract
Abstract Copper hexacyanoferrate (CuHCF) modified graphite electrode prepared by mechanical immobilisation method has been used for the amperometric determination of sulphite, which can be extended for the determination of SO 2 in air after absorbing the pollutant in sodium hydroxide solution. This method is based upon the electrocatalytic oxidation of sulphite by the modified electrode. The pH of the medium for oxidation should be in the range of 3.5–8.0. The range of determination of SO 2 is from 5.1 to 30.7 ppm. The presence of H 2 S with SO 2 will interfere in the determination. This can be eliminated by precipitating H 2 S as CuS.

CO2 is electrochemically reduced to CH4, C2H4, and alcohols in aqueous electrolytes at Cu electrode with high current density. Abstract Abrasive stripping voltammetry is a new electroanalytical technique designed for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of solid materials. It is based upon a preliminary mechanical transfer of trace amounts of a solid sample onto the surface of an electrode. All conventional electrochemical measuring methods can be used. The technique is applicable in many fields of solid state analysis and for fundamental studies of the electrochemistry of solid compounds.

Abstract This work reports on the electrochemical oxidation of sulfur dioxide on nitrogen-doped graphite (NG) in acidic media. The NG samples were prepared via one-step pyrolysis of the mixtures of sugar and urea at 700–1000 °C in argon atmosphere. Mechanism analysis indicated that the electrochemical oxidation reaction of sulfur dioxide on NG was irreversible and diffusion controlled. A linear relationship between concentration of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and optical parameter (OP) is established using the Beer–Lambert law.
