We describe the expression, purification, and biochemical characterization of two homologous enzymes, with amidohydrolase activities, of plant ( Lupinus luteus potassium‐independent asparaginase, LlA) and bacterial ( Escherichia coli , ybi K/ spt/iaa A gene product, EcAIII) origin.
