Abstract
In this paper, we explored accounts of mothers, daughters and siblings shopping experiences. We used Consumer Socialization Theory (Ward, 1974) to frame a qualitative analysis of shopping behavior. We conducted 8 personal interviews and 7 passive observations of mothers, daughters and siblings shopping together. Our results yielded a continuum of mother and daughter shopping experiences as well as reports of fun, upbeat sibling shopping stories....
