Abstract
Leukocyte chemotaxis appears to be initiated by the binding of chemoattractants to specific receptors on the surface of the cells. Human polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) and guinea pig macrophages have high affinity receptors for the N-formylated oligopeptide chemotactic peptides and receptor binding initiates lysosomal enzyme secretion and chemotaxis.
