Abstract Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) are an important subclass of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Recently, we have developed a new kind of ZIF-like materials, namely zeolitic tetrazolate-imidazolate frameworks (ZTIFs) by mixing imidazoles and tetrazolates into one self-assembly system. The introduction of tetrazolates supplies uncoordinated N sites on the frameworks, which remarkably enhance host-guest interactions. Furthermore, ZTIFs well balance the functionality and stability whi...

Abstract Shape memory alloy undergoing reversible martensitic transformation is an important class of metallic functional materials. In the past two decades, the development of shape memory alloys enables great advances in biomedical devices, microelectronics, and energy conversions. As the application scales of these devices get smaller and smaller, it is very critical to understand and tune the mechanical properties of shape memory alloys in nanoscale regime. While there are extensive reviews ...

Abstract Early and sensitive detection of avian influenza virus (AIV) such as H9N2 is needed as AIV threatens human health and the food industry. Here, we developed an ultrasensitive and naked-eye counting strategy for quantifying AIV by two probes. One probe was a complex of M13 phage and gold nanoparticles (GNPs) modified with antiphage and anti-AIV antibody. The other probe was magnetic nanoparticles modified with the same anti-AIV antibody. The two probes cocaptured target AIV to form a sand...

Abstract We have implemented three different optical methods to quantitatively assess the thickness of thin GaSe flakes transferred on both transparent substrates, like Gel-Film, and SiO2/Si substrates. We show how their apparent color can be an efficient way to make a quick, rough estimation of the thickness of the flakes. This method is more effective for SiO2/Si substrates as the thickness-dependent color change is more pronounced on these substrates than on transparent substrates. On the oth...

Abstract Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome associated coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has caused a global public health crisis with high rates of infection and mortality. Treatment and prevention approaches include vaccine development, the design of small molecule antiviral drugs and macromolecular neutralizing antibodies. Polymers have been designed for effective virus inhibition and as anti-viral drug delivery carriers.. This review summarizes recent progress and provides a perspective on polymer b...

Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) materials have demonstrated unique friction and antiwear properties unmatched by their bulk (3D) counterparts. A relatively new, large and quickly growing family of two-dimensional early transition metal carbides and nitrides (MXenes) present a great potential in different applications. There is a growing interest in understanding the mechanical and tribological properties of MXenes, however, no report of MXene superlubricity in a solid lubrication process at the ma...
