Abstract null null Hf-free n-type half-Heusler with a nominal composition of Ti0.5Zr0.5NiSn0.98Sb0.02 has been reported to have a high ZT value of almost 1.2. However, the synthesis process requires a long annealing time to achieve single-phase structure, which contributes to high product costs due to energy and time consumption. Here we introduce a new route to prepare (Ti0.5Zr0.5)1−xNbxNiSn (x = 0, 0.0050, 0.0075, 0.0100, 0.0125, 0.0150, 0.0175 and 0.0200) compounds for high thermoelectric (TE...

Abstract null null SrTiO3 (STO) is one of the most promising oxide thermoelectric (TE) materials with high thermopower, but the low electrical conductivity and high thermal conductivity are still issues to be solved. Recently, grain boundary engineering using reduced graphene oxide (RGO) has been demonstrated to have capable of simultaneously improving both the electrical and thermal properties of STO. In this study, we investigated the combined effect of La/Nb doping and RGO coating in STO to i...

Abstract This article reports structural evolution and electromechanical properties of lead-free (1-x)(0.965Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-0.035BaTiO3)-xSrTiO3 (BNTBT-100xST with x = 0.00−0.30) ceramics synthesized by sol-gel and hydrothermal methods. The crystal structure investigation shows a compositionally-driven phase transition from the dominant rhombohedral (R) phase to the tetragonal (T) phase. However, the physical properties revealed that BNTBT converts from normal ferroelectric to relaxor ferroelectr...

Lead-free piezoelectric ceramics, (Bi0.70Ba0.35)(Fe0.65Ti0.35)O3 (BBFT), were fabricated via a solid-state reaction method and then treated using different heat-treatment processes (furnace cooling, air quenching (AQ), and water quenching). In all these ceramics, the X-ray diffraction analysis revealed morphotropic phase boundaries between the rhombohedral and tetragonal phases. Changes in the average grain size, relative density, and electrical properties in the BBFT–AQ composition were observe...

Abstract Effect of Bi non-stoichiometry is one of the big issues in BiFeO3-BaTiO3 (BF-BT) ceramics that have not been resolved clearly. Therefore 0.65Bi1+xFeO3-0.35BaTiO3 (x = 0.00 - 0.06) ceramics were synthesized by a conventional solid-state reaction at different sintering temperatures (TS) to control the Bi non-stoichiometry, which can be varied by the sublimation and/or evaporation of Bi+3 ions during sintering process. The effect of Bi chemical pressure on crystalline phase, microstructure...

This manuscript reports the synthesis and piezoelectric properties of strontium titanate, SrTiO3-modified bismuth sodium titanate-barium titanate, 0.965Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3–0.035BaTiO3, (BNBT-xST, x = 0.00−0.30) ceramics produced by facile low temperature sol–gel and hydrothermal methods. Close inspection of the X-ray diffraction profile through Rietveld refinement indicates ST modification in BNBT leads to a phase transition from the dominant rhombohedral phase to a single tetragonal phase. This stru...

Abstract In this paper a comprehensive study that includes structural, magnetic, ferroelectric, dielectric and electrical characterizations of as-prepared and quenched MPB 1-x(BiFeO3)-x(PbTiO3)(BF-xPT) solid solutions prepared by wet chemical method has been presented. Qualitative and quantitively structural analysis revealed coexistence of rhombohedral/monoclinic, tetragonal and orthorhombic phases. Sensitivity to the experimental variables such as composition, synthesis conditions, sintering t...

Abstract Iron (Fe) powders with high-purity and controlled primary and secondary assembled particles were synthesized with reduction process to control the particle shape and thereby variation of its electromagnetic properties. Iron precursors, such as iron hydroxide and iron oxide powder precursors, with fine-sized and acicular or spherical/cubic morphology, were prepared by co-precipitation and hydrothermal processes and then reduced at different reducing atmospheres by using a hydrogen/argon ...
