Rationally designing low-cost yet highly efficient electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in both alkaline and acidic media remains highly challenging. Herein, we report the facile synthesis of Fe,N-doped carbon nanorods (denoted as Fe-N/C-NR) with abundant hierarchical pores and highly active sites by the pyrolysis of a one-dimensional (1D) Fe-doped zeolitic imidazolate framework (Fe-ZIF-8) as a self-sacrificing template. The unique 1D nanoarchitecture of the resultant Fe-N/C-...

One-dimensional metal-oxides (1D-MO) nanostructure has been regarded as one of the most promising candidates for high-performance photodetectors due to their outstanding electronic properties, low-cost and environmental stability. However, the current bottlenecks are high energy consumption and relatively low sensitivity. Here, Schottky junctions between nanotubes (NTs) and FTO were fabricated by electrospinning SnO2NTs on FTO glass substrate, and the bias of SnO2NTs photodetectors was as low as...

Removal of non-biodegradable heavy metals has been the top priority in wastewater treatment; the development of green technologies remains a significant challenge. Here we show the phosphorylated nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) is promising for heavy metals (Ni(II), Cu(II), Cr(VI), Hg(II)) removal via boosted Kirkendall effect. Phosphorylation confines tensile hoop stress on the nZVI particles and "breaks" the structurally-dense spherical nZVI to produce numerous radial nanocracks. Exemplified...

Articular cartilage (AC) lesions are fairly common but remain an obstacle for clinicians and researchers due to their poor self-healing capacity. Recently, a promising therapy based on the recruitment of autologous mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) has been developed for the regeneration of full-thickness cartilage defects in the knee joint. In this study, a 3D-bioprinted difunctional scaffold was developed based on aptamer HM69-mediated MSC-specific recruitment and growth factor-enhanced cell chond...

BACKGROUND Complement component(C7) gene has been shown to influence the prognosis in Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. The association between C7 and HCC recurrence after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT), however, is still unknown. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether the donor and recipient C7 gene polymorphisms are related to HCC recurrence after OLT in the Han Chinese population. METHODS A total of 73 consecutive patients with HCC who had undergone OLT, both donors ...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Whether imaging parameters would independently predict stroke recurrence in low-risk minor ischemic stroke (MIS) or transient ischemic attack (TIA) according to traditional score system (such as ABCD2 score, which was termed on the basis of the initials of the five factors: age, blood pressure, clinical features, duration, diabetes) remains unclear. We sought to evaluate the association between imaging parameters and 1-year stroke recurrence in patients with TIA or MIS in ...
