This project sought to evaluate if business card distribution improved the utility of Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys by serving as a feedback mechanism for trainees. Between fall 2018 and spring 2019, patient encounters for 6 cardiovascular disease fellows were tracked over two 60-day periods. Six weeks were allowed for HCAHPS surveys to be returned. Business cards were subsequently deployed and encounters similarly tracked. During the control-g...

Integrated, data-driven criteria are necessary to evaluate delivery outcomes in pregnancies affected by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This study analyzed maternal demographics, clinical characteristics, treatments, and delivery outcomes of 85 ethnically diverse, adult pregnant women who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 at the time of delivery. Median maternal and gestational ages were 27 years (interquartile range [IQR]: 23-31) a...

Multiple lentigines syndrome is an autosomal dominant inherited condition with variable expressivity that is also known as LEOPARD syndrome. LEOPARD stands for lentigines, electrocardiographic conduction defects, ocular hypertelorism, pulmonary valve stenosis, abnormalities of genitalia, retardation of growth, and deafness. LEOPARD syndrome most frequently develops secondary to a missense mutation of protein-tyrosine phosphatase nonreceptor type 11 gene, which encodes tyrosine phosphatase. The m...

Importance Malignant arrhythmic mitral valve prolapse (MVP) phenotype poses a substantial risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD), and an estimated 26 000 individuals in the United States are at risk of SCD per year. Thus, identifying risk-stratification strategies for SCD is imperative. Observations Patients with MVP have a heterogenous clinical spectrum, ranging from a benign course to a devastating complication such as SCD. Some of the high-risk markers of MVP, which are identified electrocardiogr...

Abstract Right-sided aortic arch is a rare anomaly (incidence 0.05%), commonly associated with an aberrant subclavian artery (35% of cases) with a Kommerell diverticulum at the origin. This aberrant artery passes posterior to the esophagus and can cause compression syndrome. We present such a case, treated with a hybrid endovascular repair. (Level of Difficulty: Advanced.)

The past two decades have seen a surge in the available data on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), with evolution of comprehensive HCM-related management strategies that have expanded the diagnostic tools and risk stratification algorithms. In addition to employing genotype-to-phenotype nosology to describe HCM, modifications to the current MOGE(S) classification for HCM based on the presence or absence of obstruction and location of hypertrophy within the morphology have been suggested. These a...
