Abstract This study evaluates the application of nonlinear energy sinks (NESs), mounted on the disk of a real packeted bladed disk, for an indirect passive vibration attenuation of blades. In the present study, the effect of stator dynamics on the chaotic behavior of a rotor-disk-bearing system with rub-impact between disk and stator is investigated.
