Paraduodenal pancreatitis (PP) is a rare type of focal pancreatitis involving the groove space. It mimics pancreatic head carcinoma, and its diagnosis and treatment are challenging. Pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) has traditionally been the primary surgical treatment for duodenal stenosis or suspected cancer. We herein report a case of PP in a 65-year-old man. The patient was admitted to the hospital for postprandial epigastric pain and vomiting. A low-density mass between the uncinate process of the ...

: miR-802 has been reported to be dysregulated in multiple tumors and contribute to tumor progression. However, its role in HCC was still largely unknown. The aim of this study is to investigate the function and mechanism of miR-802 in HCC progression. The results showed that miR-802 was upregulated in the peripheral blood and tumor tissue of HCC patients, and high levels of blood miR-802 predicted poor prognosis. miR-802 had no effect on the proliferation and migration of HCC cell lines. Intere...

Objective A successful salvage treatment of acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after liver transplantation(OLT) with prognosis of immune tolerance was reported and the treatment experience was summed up. Methods A 46-year-old man with hepatic carcinoma recurrence after resection underwent OLT from an ABO-identical male donor after cardiac death due to brain death. Post-transplant immunosuppression regimens consisted of induction with anti-interleukin-2 receptor monoclonal antibody (basilixim...

Acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) following liver transplantation is a rare but fatal complication. The correct diagnosis and management of GVHD after liver transplantation are still major challenges. Herein, we reported successful salvage treatment of acute GVHD by withdrawal of immunosuppression in a patient who presented with fever, skin rashes, and decreased blood cell counts after liver transplantation. This case highlights the need for awareness of drug-induced liver injury if liver f...

Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) has gained large popularity in recent years, although the choice of whether to preserve the spleen has remained inconsistent. The aim of our study was to report our experiences with LDP and to provide evidence for the safety of the operative technique and an evaluation index of splenic function. We retrospectively evaluated all LDPs performed at our institution between March 2008 and February 2012. Cases were divided into a laparoscopic spleen-preserving ...
