In our current endeavor, 3-dimensional (3D) tungsten oxide (WO₃) nanostructures (nanocubes, nanobars and nanobricks) have been swiftly generated via hydrothermal route at 160 °C for 24 h. Physico-chemical characterization of the resultant powder revealed formation of WO₃ nanostructures with predominantly faceted cube, brick and rectangular bar-like morphology. The present study was also aimed at exploring the antimicrobial and anticancer potential of WO₃ nanostructures. Antimicrobial activity wa...

Abstract Abrasive-free slurries which control polysilicon removal and surface roughness are highly desirable for polysilicon buffing chemical mechanical planarization (CMP). Here, we show that the addition of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) to poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDADMAC) solutions inhibits adsorption of PDADMAC on polysilicon films. The effects of PEG additive on polysilicon static etching and removal behavior during CMP were investigated as a function of PEG concentration. Poly...

Negative differential resistance (NDR) can be applied to various devices such as reflection amplifiers, relaxation oscillators, and neuromorphic devices. However, the development of NDR photodetectors with uniformity, stability, and reproducibility for use in practical applications is still lacking. Herein, we demonstrate highly reliable NDR photodetectors by constructing a MoS2/p-Si heterostructure. Owing to the formation of a MoS2 layer with uniform thickness by the plasma-enhanced sulfurizati...

Abstract Rational design of electrocatalysts with the tuneable structural and electrocatalytic properties are essential to accomplish bifunctional activity of hydrogen and oxygen evolution reaction (HER/OER), and thus efficient water splitting systems. Here, we present a bifunctional hybrid electrocatalyst consisting of Co9S8 (OER-active) and MoS2 (HER-active) with the structural merits of hierarchical morphology, huge electrochemically active sites, and greater charge transfer ability. The stru...

Abstract After the successful synthesis of graphene using chemical vapor deposition in 2009, the large-area/defect-free transfer method still remains a critical issue for implementing high-performance graphene-based electronic devices. Here, for the first time, we demonstrated a specially prepared water-soluble amorphous WO3 intermediate layer to effectively protect the graphene surface from immediately after its synthesis to transfer and final unit processing. Moreover, using the photodetector ...

The detection of toxic metal ions from water is one of the paramount requirements to combat a typical water pollution problem. Herein, we report a simple and rapid solution for the precise detection of mercury which is one of the toxic metals causing the majority of water pollution diseases. We have explored the chemobiologically synthesized silver nanoparticles in mucus matrix of Achatina fulica snails. The silver nanoparticles play a key role in the sensing of heavy metals. The resultant nanob...

The octahedral structure of 2D molybdenum disulfide (1T-MoS2) has attracted attention as a high-efficiency and low-cost electrocatalyst for hydrogen production. However, the large-scale synthesis of 1T-MoS2 films has not been realized because of higher formation energy compared to that of the trigonal prismatic phase (2H)-MoS2. In this study, a uniform wafer-scale synthesis of the metastable 1T-MoS2 film is performed by sulfidation of the Mo metal layer using a plasma-enhanced chemical vapor dep...

This paper presents a sensor, called a skin-type dual proximity sensor (STPS) that can provide distance information in the form of impedance between a sensor and an approaching object before the collision. Meanwhile, a new method regarding the selection of the resonant frequency range for optimizing the measured distance is validated. The sensor adopts the combined sensing principle of inductive-capacitive proximity sensing. STPS can be fabricated with various dimensions and shapes, and easily a...

OBJECTIVE The aim of the study was to evaluate computed tomography (CT) findings of pulmonary NUT midline carcinoma. METHODS We assessed clinical and CT features of pulmonary NUT carcinoma in 10 consecutive patients (M:F, 7:3; mean, 39 years). RESULTS The primary tumors (size range, 15-65 mm) manifested as either a peripheral tumor (5/10) or a central tumor (5/10). All tumors showed relatively low-attenuation at contrast-enhanced CT (mean net enhancement, 26 HU). Associated CT findings were meta...

Abstract The performance of chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) was determined by the morphological characteristics of the abrasive particle. In this study, the shape of the aggregate of fumed silica was confirmed by a method of characterizing the morphology of the particles using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Each aggregate was classified into four types—linear, branched, ellipsoidal, and spheroidal—and the shape distribution of a fumed-silica slurry was investigated with different sp...
