Targeted delivery of toxins is a promising way to treat disseminated cancer. The use of monoclonal antibodies as targeting moiety has provided proof-of-principle for this approach. However, extrava ...

Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic impact of lymph node skip metastasis (LNSM) in patients with stage III colorectal cancer. Method Between April 2003 and December 2014, a total of 41 patients detected as lymph node skip metastasis group (skip+ group) were compared to 86 pericolic lymph node metastases group (LND1 group) and 57 complex with intermediate and/or main lymph node metastasis group (LND2+3 group). All patients had radical D3 lymphadenectomy, performed either lapa...

Laparoscopic technique is now widely used in gastrointestinal surgery, but the limitation of its"tubular vision"pose disadvantages. Benefits from the realization of dynamic navigation which can match the preoperative dimensional reconstruction model and the surgical scene in real time, the computer-aided surgery (CAS)can supplement the insufficiency of laparoscopic view. Focusing on pancreas, the key organ in the laparoscopic gastrectomy for cancer cancer, the initial experience of dynamic navig...

Aim Previous randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses have demonstrated the ineffectiveness of fluorouracil-based adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with rectal cancer who have undergone neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and subsequent surgery. The role of oxaliplatin/fluorouracil-based adjuvant chemotherapy in such patients is unknown. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of oxaliplatin/fluorouracil-based adjuvant chemotherapy based on a comparison with fluorouracil-based adj...

Background The conventional radical resection of proximal gastric cancer is even more risky when performed laparoscopically, though this technique is widely used in gastrointestinal surgery and is accepted as the superior method. This paper explores the feasibility of laparoscopic spleen-preserving hilar lymph node dissection using a retro-pancreatic approach for the treatment of proximal gastric cancer.

Elevated expression of S100P has been detected in several tumor types. To analyze the potential use of S100P for the prediction of colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis and prognosis, S100P expression was detected in 125 patients with colon adenocarcinoma by immunohistochemistry, followed by correlation and survival analysis. High S100P expression was correlated with metastasis, as demonstrated by clinically relevant data, and predicted poor survival more effectively than preoperative serum carcino...

Potassium channels are transmembrane proteins that selectively promote the infiltration of potassium ions. The significance of these channels for tumor biology has become obvious. However, the effects of potassium ions on the tumor or normal cells have seldom been studied. To address this problem, we studied the biological effects of L02 and HepG2 cells with ectogenous potassium ions. Cell proliferation, cell cycle, and apoptosis rate were analyzed. Our results indicated that potassium ions inhi...

In our previous study, low expression of FAM172A protein was found in colon cancer tissues. This research was planned to explore the functions of FAM172A gene and examine the mechanisms of its transcriptional regulation. Firstly, flow cytometry showed that FAM172A inhibited proliferation and promoted apoptosis and differentiation of colon cancer cells. Then through continuous truncation, we identified the minimal functional promoter region of FAM172A. Subsequently, we found that STAT1, as a tran...
