Abstract Information security policy (ISP) plays a critical role in information systems security management. Past research using General Deterrence Theory (GDT) on employees’ compliance intention (CI) with ISP produced mixed results. We use survey data to investigate how other factors influence the relationship between sanction severity and employees’ CI. The results show that none of the investigated moderating variables interacts with sanction severity on employees’ ISP compliance intentions. ...

ABSTRACTInformation security policy (ISP) plays an important role in information security management in organizations. Past research investigated various factors that may impact employee behavior toward security policy compliance from the perspective of general deterrence theory (GDT), protection and motivation Theory (PMT), and rational choice theory (RCT). However, there is no unifying foundation/framework that examines all of those factors in a harmonic way so that the research findings can g...

The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of goal clarity, curiosity, and enjoyment – dimensions of flow theory – on the intention to write programming code. This research refines and extends previous information systems IS research in two significant ways: first, this research is focused specifically on systems development behaviour; second; this is the first research that isolates specific flow theory constructs associated with systems development behaviour. We used SmartPLS to tes...

ABSTRACTSystems development is an academic major in many information systems (IS) programs. Attracting students who are interested in systems development is important to increasing IS enrollment. The purpose of this study aims to empirically investigate which factors influence students’ decisions to select systems development as a major and future career. This research makes three contributions to IS research and education. First, the research findings extend previous research associating outcom...

Previous research has acknowledged flow as a useful construct for explaining online consumer behavior. However, there is dearth of knowledge about what dimensions of flow and how they actually influence online consumer behavior as flow is difficult to conceptualize and measure. This research examines flow and its effects on online consumer behavior in a unified model which draws upon theory of planned behavior (TPB). The four important dimensions of flow (concentration, enjoyment, time distortio...

1. INTRODUCTION Today, business processes and decision making depend heavily on information systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). ERP are complex information systems, which integrate business processes and decision-making at the organizational level. Understanding business processes and being able to use enterprise software are skills in great demand by industry and many business schools require the teaching of hands-on skills in ERP. However, it is a challenge for instructors to t...

IT (Information Technology) entrepreneurs have been contributing greatly to economic growth and job creation. Despite this, IT entrepreneurship remains understudied in business research. In particular, studying IT entrepreneurial behavior has been ignored in both Information Systems (IS) and entrepreneurship disciplines. This study for the first time empirically examines IT entrepreneurial behavior and its antecedent factors from the IS discipline. The findings suggest that two key IS constructs...

1. INTRODUCTION Entrepreneurship plays a key role in economic development and job creation. Entrepreneurs not only incubate technological innovation, but also create employment opportunities and competitiveness (Zahra, 1999). Entrepreneurship is prominent in technology industries where technology innovation creates many new businesses and jobs. Information Technology (IT) is one of the most popular industries that rapidly incubate entrepreneurs. In addition, many entrepreneurs have used IT as to...

Cloud computing is evolving as an important IT service platform with its benefits of cost effectiveness and global access. To become a widely adopted IT infrastructure and service platform, cloud computing has to be integrated with other systems in organizations. In academia, there is very limited study of cloud computing integration. In practice, the industry lacks a comprehensive systems integration architecture or tools that can integrate any system universally. Built upon Enterprise Service ...
