ABSTRACT: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an ongoing pandemic. The occurrence of acute liver injury (ALI) has been reported in liver transplant (LT) recipients; however, the findings on children remain controversial. This is the first extensive, worldwide report on the impact of COVID-19 on pediatric LT recipients. Our online survey reported 110 pediatric LT recipients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Of these, 37 were symptomatic and 20 out of them (54%) had complicated COVID-19, which include...

Bartonella henselae is cat scratch disease´s etiological agent, which is considered an endemic infection in Chile. It typically presents as a self-limited regional lymphadenopathy and less frequently with systemic involvement and extranodal or atypical manifestations: hepatosplenic, ocular or musculoskeletal involvement, among others. We present three cases of atypical cat scratch disease with ocular compromise, as neurorretinitis. This review highlights the importance of the active search for o...

The SARS-CoV-2 virus outbreak, which began in late 2019 in China, has spread very quickly to Chile and worldwide. In Chile, we currently have around 18,435 people infected with 1.4% of adult mortality. Pediatric patients with chronic liver diseases (CLD) are susceptible as well to COVID-19 and could have a worse prognosis. The objective is to give recommendations about medical treatment to pediatric patients with chronic liver disease (CLD), autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), Non- Alcoholic fatty liver...

The use of biological therapies has meant a great improvement in the management of several conditions like autoimmune, neoplastic or others diseases. Although its use has implied significant improvements in the prognosis of these diseases, it is not exempt from complications: infectious diseases as one of them. The objective of this consensus was to evaluate, from an infectious viewpoint, the safeness of the most frequently used biological therapies and give recommendations for the prevention of...
