A general overview is given on the phenomenological methods used to describe the level densities in nuclei. Two well-known two-parameter formulas of level densities, the Back-Shifted Fermi Gas (BSFG) model and the Constant Temperature (CT) model, were used. The nuclear structure of the semi-magic isotope {sup 125}Sn was investigated by means of the {sup 124}Sn(n{sub th},{gamma}{gamma}){sup 125}Sn reaction and the {sup 124}Sn(d-vector,p){sup 125}Sn reaction. Abstract The level structure of 183 W has been studied using gamma–gamma coincidences from thermal neutron capture in 182 W accompanied with the reaction ( d → , p ) . From these data and those of previous studies a total of 76 levels and about 490 connecting γ -transitions have been established for energies below 2.4 MeV. A new method is proposed to determine the energy-dependent spin distribution in experimental nuclear-level schemes. This method compares various experimental and calculated moments in the energy-spin plane to obtain the spin-cutoff parameter {sigma} as a function of mass A and excitation energy using a total of 7202 levels with spin assignment in 227 nuclei between F and Cf. We present evidence for a new supersymmetric quartet in the A~190region of the nuclear mass table. The structure of {sup 194}Ir is investigated via (n,{gamma}),(n,e{sup -}),(d,p), and (d-vector,{alpha}) spectroscopy. The use of different methods leads to an almost complete level scheme up to high excitation energies including {gamma}-decay and spin-parity assignments. The recent and older level shifts and widths in \overline{p}atoms are analyzed. The results are fitted by an antiproton-nucleus optical potential with two basic complex strength parameters. These parameters are related to average Sand Pwave-scattering parameters in the subthreshold energy region.
