Abstract The influence of CrTaO 4 on the oxidation behavior of a directionally solidified nickel-based alloy has been investigated at the temperatures between 850 °C and 900 °C for the different time intervals (the longest time is 300 h). The oxide scale consists of three layers. The outer layer is mainly composed of Cr 2 O 3 , TiO 2 , and NiCr 2 O 4 , the middle layer is CrTaO 4 , and the inner oxide layer mainly consists of Al 2 O 3 . The tensile properties and deformation behavior of several cast Ni-based superalloys, respectively, in the equiaxed, columnar-crystal and single-crystal styles are comparatively studied. Abstract Bulk solidification of a Zn–6 wt.%Bi immiscible alloy was investigated under a weak transverse magnetic field. The results show that the thermoelectric magnetic flow induced by the thermoelectric magnetic force is present during the solidification process.
