Abstract A combined pretreatment of NH4Cl impregnation and refining was developed to recover the fermentable sugars and improve the bioethanol yield. The xylose was recovered to decrease the cost of bioethanol production, moreover, the impregnation using nonmetal salt had little influence on the environment, and the energy consumption of the refining process was hugely reduced by the impregnation. Abstract An efficient and low-cost approach to preparing CNFs with succinic acid hydrolysis and NaClO2 oxidation is explored. High-temperature-short-time hydrolysis can depolymerize the cellulose, whereas the dispersibility of the CNFs is hugely enhanced by NaClO2 oxidation under alkaline condition. Cassava bagasse (CB) was liquefied using polyethylene glycol to prepare polyol. The liquefied cassava bagasse (LCB) was reacted with polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate (PMDI) to produce novel bio-based polyurethane foams (PUF) via a one-pot process. A series of metal chlorides with different valences were used during biomass pretreatment and enzymatic saccharification. Enzymatic hydrolysis lignin (EHL) has a variety of active groups, which endow it with excellent properties and broad application prospects. Research work on EHL will promote better utilization of lignin resources and sustainable development of ecological environment.
