Abstract null null null Pre-Implantation genetic diagnosis is available to couples at risk of conceiving a pregnancy affected with a known genetic disorder. null Assisted reproductive techniques null are used in combination with micromolecular diagnostic technologies to recognise at-risk embryos with pathogenic genetic variants at the pre-implantation stage using polar body, null null blastomere null or trophectoderm biopsy. This review will discuss the varying genetic disorders diagnosed by Pre...

Demand for oocyte freezing in absence of a medical indication is growing as women delay childbirth and seek to extend the window of opportunity for parenthood. The optimum age for oocyte freezing is below 35 years, whereas currently the mean age of women undergoing oocyte freezing in the UK is 38 years. Nearly half of women undergoing oocyte freezing are not in a relationship. The treatment is not publicly funded and the average price for a complete oocyte freezing and thawing cycle, including a...
Endometriosis is a common health condition affecting women of reproductive age who often present with chronic pelvic pain and/or infertility. There is wide variation in the estimates of endometriosis prevalence. Accurate reporting of the disease prevalence is hampered by multiple factors including long delay in diagnosis due to natural fluctuation in symptoms severity, lack of a reliable non-surgical diagnostic tool, polymorphic appearance of endometriosis lesions at laparoscopy, inability to ac...

To review the cumulative outcome of pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) cycles performed for prevention of sickle cell disease (SCD). Couples referred for PGD for SCD between April 2012 and October 2017 were included. Ovarian stimulation was performed using a short gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist protocol and follicle-stimulating hormone injections. The GnRH agonist was used to trigger oocyte maturation. Oocytes were fertilised using intracytoplasmic sperm injection. Troph...

: Pre-implantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) continues to provoke interest, discussion and debate in the field of reproductive medicine. The two touted benefits of comprehensive screening of pre-implantation embryos for chromosomal aneuploidies in IVF treatment are improvement in the live birth rate per cycle and reduction in miscarriage risk.
